In this episode, we talk about Olivia Wilde's directorial debut "Booksmart". We get into why this film plays differently with different generations and the visual genius Wilde has shown. 

 

Then we talk about the film it is often compared to, Superbad. And ultimately discuss the teen romp comedy format in general. It's a good one. 

 

Oh, and we play some games and get into the news. 

40: All The Wick You Can Handle - John Wick 3 / The Matrix

In this episode, the guys recruit Weathered Souls and St. Elmo Brewing company to provide the beer to talk about John Wick 3 and this budding, ORIGINAL, new franchise. 

 

Then we go back in time, 20 years to be exact, and talk about one's Keanu's most memorable roles, and a film that changed action cinema forever, The Matrix. 

39: Unexpectedly Meta - Detective Pikachu / Unconventional Adaptations

Okay, hear us out...Detective Pikachu is suprisingly meta. In this episode, Joe and David try to stop being super old and understand Pokemon (more Joe than David), and we drink a Golden Stout form Superior Bathhouse Brewing (thanks to Carlos' Sister-In-Law). 

 

Second, we talk about unconventional adaptations in cinema and drink an IPA from Ingenious Brewing using experimental hops.

In this episode, we tackle the latest film (almost a feature) from Childish Gambino titled "Guava Island". It follows an island plagued by oppression and one man's attempt to put on a musical festival to raise the resident's spirits.

In this episode, we undertake the daunting task of trying to talk about a movie that must be experienced to truly understand. That movie is The Beach Bum starring Matthew McConaughey and written and direct by Harmony Korine.

Amber and her partner Ron Extract have worked in the beer industry for a number of years, including long stints with a BaaM favorite, Jester King. Amber shares and talks beer with the gents, and offers some insight into the creative brewing practices of her and Ron’s new venture, Garden Path Fermentation. This is one for the real beer nerds!
